"The consciousness of good intentions disdains ambiguity. I shall not, however, multiply professions on this head. My motives must remain in the depository of my own breast. My arguments will be open to all, and may be judged of by all. They shall at least be offered in a spirit which will not disgrace the cause of truth."
-'Publius' The Federalist No. 1
What if the tables were turned and Bill Frist had made some of the same comparisons and commentary during the run-up to Election '08?If Frist or another prominent Republican had uttered some of this same commentary about President Bush, Americans would have had to endure this 'story' for weeks and weeks, quite possibly even after the election was over. Then why is that the Democratic Minority Leader, Harry Reid, one of the prominent Democratic leaders, can say this and it not be a story, except in some 'B' newspaper out of Nevada.
This example reassures me that the old media cannot and should not be trusted. There presumptuous and pompous attitude does not give the American populace the full story in which to filter and siphon through to ascertain their own, independent decision. Decisions are made for what the American people should 'know' at the 'editorial level.' Let us decide for ourselves and quit sheltering your own darlings.
"'It is a wide-open field,' Reid said. 'The person who is leading at this stage is Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton, of course, has lots of money. She comes from a state with lots of people in it, but she still has a few ties to Arkansas. I think she is the person to beat, but that does not necessarily mean she is the best candidate.'"
